The Emirates Group first had its origins in 1959, when Dnata (Dubai National Air Travel Agency) began operating with a staff of five, at the then Dubai International Airport. Between 1955 and 1985, Dnata continued to grow and develop its services, gaining a reputation for the provision of reliable, efficient and cost effective passenger, cargo, ramp and technical support services, to airlines operating out of Dubai. From those early days of five staff and a quiet desert landing strip, Dubai International Airport today, is one of the world's leading airports and a private hub for the entire Middle East Region.

It employs over 7,300 skilled professionals, with a fleet of over 450 mechanised vehicles and some of the industry's most advanced computer technology.
