German School Sharjah - (Private)


German school Sharjah in 1977-2007, in summer, 1975 hit the German businessman Rudolf Eller with his son Richard Seine Hoheit Dr. Sheikh Sultan Bin Mohammad Al Qasimi. Together the opening of a German school is planned. On the 6th February, 1976 fifty German-speaking parents decide to found a German school independent of companies. The present meeting founds the school association and chooses the first school board of directors. Chairperson of this school board of directors becomes Mr. Eller. The ruler of Sharjah makes available an area which lies at that time still beyond the town. In June, 1976 the first spade sting and a schoolhouse and a teacher house occur originate. As ersterSchulleiter the teacher of building site school Hochtief, Mr. Bodo Schmidt, under contract is taken.

Then on the 1st October, 1976 the school company begins with two teachers and 19 children in the Klassen1 to 6-th parent’s garden pieces of furniture make available for this. Mr. Kammer of company Khansaheb helps in the pioneering work, as for example of the removal of construction rubble and the assembly of an air-conditioning. The father of Mr. Rudolf Eller helps in the enclosure of the school area. On the 10th March, 1977 German school Sharjah is officially opened thanks to the generous support of different companies and above all the ruler by Sharjah. In the 1977/1978 school year 31 children take part in the lessons.

After a school inspection by the federal management office in Cologne the school receives the first teaching means donation and one Personnel expenditure subsidy. In the 1982/1983 school year a kindergarten building is bought and a nursery school is furnished. Thanks to Mr. Kammer and company Khansaheb a swimming-pool is built. There are 52 children in kindergarten and school. In 1987 Mr. Schmidt leaves the school. His successor becomes Mr. Heiko Sippel. In the time of the gulf war in 1990 the number of the children strongly goes back. On the 1st January, 1991 the kindergarten is closed. To the 8th January, 1991 the closing of the school is officially arranged. By reopening on the 6th March, 1991 only a school child visits the school.

The staff will dismiss to a great extent. In 1992 the school board of directors tries with the newly enrolled head mistress, Mrs. Klemp, a new beginning. In September, 1993 there are only 5 kindergarten children and 7 pupils. Because of too low pupil's number there is no social security of the federal management office. As a result 68,000 Dhs were collected as donations by companies. In spring, 1995 is the school area which lies lower than the surroundings, after violent downpours floods. The ruler of Sharjah finances the establishment of a wall around the area. When Mrs. Klemp leaves in summer, 1997 the school, the school location is also protected thanks to her application again.

There are 12 children in the kindergarten and 27 at school. One tries to do justice to the growing pupil's figures with additional rooms in containers. After Mr. Karl-Heinz Bielohuby and Mr. Werner Pustowska becomes in summer, 2000 Mr. Peter Ohlemacher Schulleiter. In October, 2000 it is begun with the construction of a new school. 9 classrooms, a lab and a computer space can be furnished by support of numerous sponsors. This school year the personnel support begins with the delegation of a federal program teacher through the Federal Republic of Germany, central office for the foreign school system. There are 22 children in the kindergarten and 46 at school.

In the 2003/2004 school year the personnel support with the delegation of a foreign service teacher as an officially provided headmaster, Mr. Dieter Stanik, and an other ADLK becomes expanded. There are 39 children in the kindergarten and 93 at school. In September, 2004 the branch place is furnished in Dubai in the rooms the Al Mawakeb school in Al Barsha with 32 children in the kindergarten and 43 children in the elementary school. The official opening occurs on the 14th February, 2005 in presence of the German general consul in Dubai, Mr. Leuchs.

After delegation of two other ADLK the school in June, 2006 receives the authorization to award independently the graduations of the Sekundarstufe I. In September, 2006 the elementary school is evacuated in Sharjah in the rooms of the neighboring French school. The kindergarten in Dubai moves in a villa in Jumeirah. In February, 2007 the school is recognized by the minister's of education and the arts conference in Germany as the German foreign school which leads to ends in the Sekundarbereich I. In April, 2007 there are more than 200 children only in Sharjah. All together 335 children visit the German school in Sharjah and Dubai.
