Wesgreen International School & Greenbelt Nursery - (Private)

In 1991 Wesgreen International School was founded and in the years since it has grown to become one of the most successful schools in the area. Now we offer a first class education, based on the British Curriculum, for all ages from Nursery to Grade 11. In September 2001, after ten years of continuous growth, the school relocated to a purpose built large multi site campus and since then the school has continued to develop. Our Grade 11 students, most of who have grown with Wesgreen, achieved in excess of 74% passes at grade C and above in their GCSE and IGCSE results this summer. These results are in fact higher than the UK average. In September of 2005 we will be reintroducing a Sixth Form entry, with students studying for AS and A level qualifications at the school.

However, it is not just academically that we flourish. Our sporting and extra curricular programme gives everyone a chance to excel in something, whether it is Basketball, Volleyball, Drama or Public Speaking. As well as these activities, we also offer homework help nights for those who feel they need that little extra help. These classes help to build confidence and fill in any gaps a student may have in their knowledge. Wesgreen has been built on sound foundations since 1991 to stand where it is now, however we will not sit back, it is our goal to improve each year and build further on our successes so far.

Curriculum / Programs
The school is divided into three separate units throughout which a British Curriculum is taught.
The Nursery welcomes children from two and half years old.
The Primary Section accommodates KG1, KG2 and Grades 1-4.
The Boys and Girls Secondary Schools cater for Grades 5 to 13.

The Greenbelt Nursery introduces children to the world of education through the medium of play and lays the foundations for acquiring fundamental skills in literacy and numeracy.

In the Primary Section the highly successful British Literacy and Numeracy Projects ensure that our children are given the best possible start in the fundamentals. We also introduce studies in Science, Information Technology, Art, Music, Geography and Physical education.

In grades 7, 8 and 9 pupils follow the key stage 3 courses of the British Curriculum. In grades 10 and 11, all students are taught English, Mathematics and ICT as IGCSE courses. The secondary schools also offer a wide range of IGCSE and O level options.

AS and A levels are offered in Grades 12 and 13 in the above subjects and can include others according to student demand.

The school has a strong department throughout all phases teaching Arabic, Islamic Studies and Social studies, with programmers for Arabs and Non-Arabs. Students from other backgrounds are encouraged to learn some Arabic as well. Urdu lessons are available to native Urdu speakers. Alternative courses to Islamic Studies are provided for non-Muslims.
