I-Kidz Nursery - (Private)

I-kidz Nursery is an exclusively designed home away from home and our aim is to provide a family environment for all of our children. Every child deserves the best possible start in life and support to fulfill their potential. A child’s experience in the early years has a major impact on their future life chances. A secure, safe and happy childhood is important in its own right, and it provides the foundation for children to make the most of their abilities and talents as they grow up. When parents chose to use early years services they want to know that provision will keep their children safe and help them to thrive.
Curriculum / Programs
Children in the Nursery classes work towards the Early learning Goals for the Foundation Phase which encompasses children in the Nursery and later, the Reception Classes. The curriculum for the Foundation Stage covers the following learning areas as personal, social, and emotional development, communication, language and literacy, mathematical development, knowledge and understanding of the world and creative development and physical development. Children learn through a variety of activities and experiences, both child and adult led. The curriculum is structured so that children become increasingly independent and are encouraged to be really proud of their achievements.

Learning, in the Nursery, is predominately based on play, with guided adult interaction introducing children to new skills, knowledge and understanding as well as extending their existing skills. This is applicable to children from 04 months to 4 years. Parents are always involved in their children's learning, sharing successes at school and supporting at home. An agreed system of planning is used throughout the school. This is carefully structured, and ensures that the children's previous knowledge and experiences are built on so as to ensure continuity and progression. Teachers plan for a wide range of teaching strategies, keeping learning as interactive possible.

Co-operative learning is valued so we use a mixture of individual, group and whole class teaching. Care is taken to ensure that each child is presented with opportunities to learn through which ever medium they will achieve the most success. Aikido classes are offered to children at I-Kidz from age 3. Aikido is an efficient and extremely effective Japanese Martial Art which emphasizes mental and physical control and aims to increase self confidence. Aikido is non competitive so there are no competitions, tournaments and sparring. The philosophy is unique and stresses self victory and caring for opponents as you would care for yourself.

Aikido uses the opponents force and body mechanics as tools so as to minimize the harm to oneself and to the opponent. Play ball classes are offered to children at I-Kidz from age 2. Play ball is a leading sport and development program which aims to teach not only physical skills such as catching, hitting, throwing, dribbling and kicking a ball, but also life skills in a positive and educational environment. Children gain many emotional benefits too such as increased confidence, self esteem, responsibility, persistence and courage, respect and development of positive attitudes. The aim of Play ball is to introduce children to sport in a positive and non intimidating way.

The Play ball program is progressive and recognizes the different stages of development in young children. This means that your child will be exposed to basic movement and ball skills in the initial stages of the program and will progress to formalized and structured sport coaching in latter stages of Play ball. A fun and stimulating session for babies and toddlers. It is an energetic and lively time with movement, dance and instruments all incorporated to help young children channel their energy and develop their attention span, balance and co-ordination.
