Al Garhoud - Red Line - (Red Line)


Al Garhoud - Dubai Metro will be a World-Class; 21st Century, fully automated, driverless Railway System. The Dubai Metro is intended to provide transport coverage and reach to all strategic areas of the City, and develop the network to branch out into the suburbs with future extensions. The Dubai Metro is the flagship Project of the RTA in terms of: its approximately 15.5 billion Dirhams total investment (inclusive of Project Management fees and utility diversions). Project cost will be AED1,508,996,079 and US$738,665,919 Fixed lump sum for civil and rail works respectively.

Capacity:
Initial Line capacity for the Red Line, in 2010: 11,010 Pphpd.
Ultimate Line capacity for the Red Line: 21,838 Pphpd.
Pphpd = passengers per hour per direction.

Minimum Headway:
Initial Minimum design headway for the Red Line: 225 sec.
Ultimate Minimum design headway for the Red Line: 90 sec.
*Two interchange stations: Burjuman and Union Square.

Round Trip:
Design Red Line roundtrip time = 2 hours & 23 minutes (8,550 seconds).

Tunnel:
Diameter 9.3 meters Maximum depth: 29.56 m from ground level.

Speed:
Maximum operational speed: 90 Km/hr.

Hours of operation:
05:00 AM to 00:30 AM.

Park and ride facilities for Red Line:
Rashidiya and Jumeirah Islands.
Features
- Route covers the area between Rashidiya to Jabel Ali.
- Length of the Line is approximately 52.1 km.
- The majority of the line is elevated, except between Port Saeed and Burjuman, where the line is constructed underground.
- There are 24 elevated Stations, 1 at-grade Station and 4 underground stations planned.
- Estimated journey duration from one end of the line to the other will be 64 minutes.
