Mission:

Universal American School (UAS) provides a quality American education that is nurturing and inspires respectful relationships. We empower students to use multiple perspectives to address ways and means for developing a sustainable and peaceful world.

Philosophy:

Universal American School provides a co-educational program of instruction based upon the American model of education. As of 2007/2008, the International Baccalaureate Diploma program will be offered in grade 11 and subsequently grade 12. English is the language of instruction. A holistic education is in place that encourages high standards of academic achievement, collaboration, personal development, and the freedom to create and explore. We strive to provide a learning environment that is free from discrimination. The significance of the student’s cultural heritage is valued within our multi-cultural society. Learning explicitly addresses intercultural understanding, approaches to learning, communication, guided inquiry, trans-disciplinary themes, skills, strategies, attitudes, and behavior that support life-long learning.
Facilities
UAS’s campus is amongst the finest in the Middle East. It has been expertly designed by THA architects, a leading American firm specializing in campus design. The campus includes an indoor gymnasium, Olympic size track and soccer field, vocal and instrumental music rooms, art rooms, computer and science laboratories, libraries, and a swimming pool.
Curriculum / Programs
UAS employs a holistic approach to education that promotes the student’s full intellectual, physical, moral and social development, realizing each student’s potential. The school’s program consists of a full K-12 American curriculum leading to the American high school diploma. Arabic is taught from Grades 1-12 while Spanish and French are offered from Grades 6-12. The curriculum is designed to ensure easy transferability to other countries. The school also offers the International Baccalaureate Diploma Program (IB DP)as an option in Grades 11 and 12. ESOL schools have offered the IB program for close to twenty years. This experience and expertise has translated into graduation rates of above 95% for ESOL’s IB students.
