Chubby Cheeks Nursery - (Private)

Chubby Cheeks Nursery strives to give your child that one moment. We are located in the heart of tranquil 'Gardens' community, and are taking admissions of children aged 4 months onwards. We are spread across 10,000 square feet and are are easily reachable from Gardens, Discovery Gardens, Jumeirah Lake Towers, Muntazah Complex, Jumeirah Islands, Jumeirah Beach Residence, Dubai Marina and Greens Community. Our full day and year round programs will suit the need of working parents, while providing their precious child an environment where they can 'Grow with Love'.

Chubby Cheeks is an inclusive nursery, we open our arms to children from all over the world, who speak different languages, have different abilities and have been exposed to a myriad of different cultural experiences. We celebrate diversity and realize that every child is special, every child is different, every child is a miracle. Since no two children are the same (not even from the same family), our approach is designed to use Howard Gardner’s Multiple Intelligences theory so that our staff and environment will be able to engage children with diverse interests and skill levels. Our qualified and caring staff is truly multicultural, with diverse set of skills and speaking many languages.

At Chubby Cheeks Nursery we believe that a child must be 'Hugged First, Then Taught'. We recognize that the first five years of a child, is a time of enormous growth in linguistic, conceptual, and social competence. We focus not only on 'learning' and not only on 'play'; instead we focus on 'learning through play'. Chubby Cheeks Nursery promises to provide all children with a home away from home, a place where they can learn and grow, having the time of their lives. The Chubby Cheeks vision is focused on the child, yet it extends beyond the child, to serve the child's family and the community.

Facilities

Chubby Cheeks Nursery provides a variety of interesting activities that are right for a child's age, stage of development and individual preferences. Children learn through play and we therefore, ensure that all activities that we offer are fun for the children and are aligned with the EYFS curriculum. The Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) is the regulatory and quality framework for the provision of learning, development and care for children in the preschool environment. A framework established by the British Government, it was launched in 2002, and has been recently updated. The EYFS program has six primary focus areas.

1. Personal, Social and Emotional development (PSED) / Interpersonal / Interpersonal:
We encourage children to become independent and self confident, making positive relationships with their peers and adults, working alongside others companionably and co-operatively. Successful personal, social and emotional development is critical for very young children in all aspects of their lives and gives them the best opportunity for success in all other areas of learning and development.

2. Communication, Language and Literacy (CLL) / Linguistic / Musical:
The development and use of communication and language are at the heart of young children's learning. The ability to communicate gives children the capacity to participate more fully in their society. Chubby Cheeks Nursery provides a language rich learning environment which gives children opportunities for speaking and listening and for sharing their ideas and feelings. Through listening to stories and sharing a wide range of books the children will develop a love of reading. At the same time they will learn about the shapes and sounds of letters through songs, rhymes and our Jolly Phonics program. Music and dance also play a key role in language development for young children. Rhymes and songs are particularly important and enjoyable for babies.

3. Problem Solving, Reasoning and Numeracy (PSRN) / Logical:
We support children in developing their understanding of problem solving, reasoning and numeracy in a broad range of contexts in which they can explore, enjoy, learn and practice. This area of learning includes seeking patterns, working with numbers, shapes, space and measures, and counting, sorting and matching. Children are encouraged to develop their experience of numbers, pattern, shapes and measurement through structured play.

4. Knowledge and Understanding of the World (KUW):
Young children are inquisitive to find out more and more about the world they live in and the people they encounter. Children at Chubby Cheeks Nursery are encouraged to explore and investigate materials and to learn about change and patterns, to recognize similarities and differences, and to question how things work. This area of learning and development forms the foundation for later work in science, design and technology, history, geography, and information and communication technology (ICT).

5. Physical development (PD) / Bodily:
Chubby Cheeks Nursery gives children ample opportunities for the healthy development of body and physical skills through indoor and outdoor play. Activities to promote gross motor skills include running, climbing, jumping, hopping, skipping, riding tricycles, throwing and catching balls and bean bags and watering plants. Fine motor skills are encouraged using a variety of resources including play dough, paint, crayons, scissors, beads and puzzles.

6. Creative development (CD) / Visual / Spatial:
Creativity is fundamental to successful learning. We encourage the development of children’s creativity by giving them opportunities to share their thoughts, ideas and feelings through a art, music, movement, dance, imaginative and role play activities. Children are encouraged to imagine, to express their individuality and to acquire new skills through a wide range of exciting activities.

Curriculum / Programs

Chubby Cheeks Nursery follows the British Early Years Foundation Stage curriculum delivered using best practices from different early years education philosophies developed internationally. We realize that every child is different; no two children even from the same family are alike. Hence our curriculum itself is diverse, where sky is the limit. Our teaching methodology is greatly inspired with the Reggio Emilia approach.

We have thorough belief in this approach as it shows the respect for the child and at the same time values the role of families, teachers, community and the environment. We are also inspired by Maria Montessori's ideas especially the focus on independence. We use a lot of Montessori materials and tools in teaching. We agree with top Preschool education gurus Steiner and Piaget that Early Childhood learning should be largely experiential, imitative and sensory based.
