The multi-national staff at the Neuro Spinal Hospital is committed to working together as a problem solving team with the patient and the patient’s family to provide seamless care in specialty services. It is the aim of the Neuro Spinal Hospital to give affordable services to those who need it and to serve as a referral centre for the region; to work with physicians throughout the region to evaluate and treat disorders related to the Neuro specialties. The Neuro Spinal Hospital seeks to keep on the cutting edge of available technology. With this in mind, the facilities and equipment are state of the art.

The Neuro Spinal Hospital has 3 operating theatres especially designed and equipped for the most complex neurosurgical and spinal procedures. Outstanding features which are more specific to our Operating theatre complex include 2 Neuro and Spinal Navigation systems, Intraoperative MRI, 2 operative high tech digital microscopes, CUSA which is used for tumour removal without traumatizing normal brain tissue, stereotaxy frame based and frameless for the treatment of deep brain tumours and Parkinson disease. All this technology is supported by the intra operative monitoring to optimize the safety of the patient. Brain Suite: The operating theatre of tomorrow is here today. The Brain Suite is a complete work flow optimized neurosurgical operating room that integrates image guided surgery, Intra-operative, top of the range 1.5 Tesla functional MRI, surgical microscopes and data management technology. Together these systems help to minimize surgical complications to the patient by allowing the surgeon to perform surgery with highly precise computerized guidance, better visualization of vital functional structures and greater accuracy. This Brain Suite is the second set up of its kind and one of four existing systems worldwide. The best healthcare is available for you here in the UAE, Sequence of real-time images taken before (left), during (middle) and after (right) surgery using intra-operative MRI.
Spinal Suite: The Spinal Suite is equipped with state of the art spinal navigation system and face to face Zeiss surgical microscope which allow more precise and less invasive spinal surgery, reducing the need for frequent X-ray exposures and increasing the safety of the patient. The system is used for procedures such as spinal fixation for degenerative instability and fractures, scoliosis, minimally invasive microsurgical discectomies, spinal tumours and other diseases relating to the spine. Stereotactic & Functional Neurosurgery: To perform functional neurosurgeries with submillimeter accuracy for brain biopsy and conditions like Parkinson’s disease and brachytherapy. The computer-planned procedures allow the surgeon to access the deepest areas of the brain without any risk or damage to the vasculature or brain structures.
Surgical Microscopes: Two of the most sophisticated surgical microscopes allowing the minimally-invasive microsurgical techniques are integrated to the imaging-guided system (Navigation System) which guide the surgeon through the procedure. Intra-operative Monitoring: During brain and spinal surgery Neurophysiological monitoring of the brain, spinal cord and nerves function is observed in real time to alert the surgeon of any crucial effects to the nervous system. This offers the patient extra protection and security during surgery. Recovery Room: With three beds specially designed for neurosurgical and spinal surgical cases. Our radiology department delivers a quality, detailed and accurate diagnostic imaging. All examinations are undertaken using state of the art digital imaging equipment, operated by highly trained medical professionals in an environment where patient care, comfort and safety are our prime concern. Our radiology equipment is supported by one of the most advanced digital network.
MRI: MRI is undoubtedly the imaging technique of choice in the majority of neurological and spinal diseases. The state of the art 1.5 Tesla functional MRI scanner at the NSH has been optimized for neuro-spinal procedures. The high resolution conventional MRI routine examinations can be completed in a fraction of the time of previous scanners. Patient comfort is also increased due to the short tunnel and piped music relaxing the patient.
CT-Scan: Our spiral CT-scanner may be utilized for both diagnostic and interventional procedures. Minimally invasive interventional procedures including percutaneous techniques such as vertebroplasty, annuloplasty and disc decompression. The scanner is equipped with additional packages to assist in the early and accurate assessment of ischemic and haemorrhagic stroke. Other packages include Perfusion, CT Angiography, Bolus Track and sophisticated dental assessment.
ANGIOGRAPHY SUITE: The Neuro Spinal Hospital is equipped with an angiography suite. Our endovascular neurosurgeon specializes in all brain, spinal cord and spine interventional procedures. The range of examinations undertaken includes diagnostic angiograms of the head, neck and spine whilst interventional procedures include coiling, embolisation, thrombolysis, dilatation and stenting. These procedures offer a less invasive approach in the treatment of cerebro-vascular and spinal diseases.
MULTI-PURPOSE DIGITAL X-RAY MACHINE: In addition to the diagnostic capabilities, the unit is providing routine radiography and digital fluoroscopy for interventional procedures.
ULTRASOUND MACHINE: As well as routine ultrasound studies,a doppler package is included for cervical, carotid and vertebral arteries; and transcranial doppler studies.
PICTURE ARCHIVING COMMUNICATION SYSTEM (PACS): Is a digital and filmless method of recording and distributing diagnostic images. This allows the images to be viewed simultaneously at numerous locations within the hospital even on the clinician's home PC. The images are archived on a CD in their original DICOM format. A copy of which is given to the patient, which may be viewed on any PC. The viewing software provides the clinician with a full range of viewing tools to assist in diagnosis which include window width, level, zoom, pan, measurement tools and etc. The system also provides full-scale capabilities for teleradiography. Physiotherapy, (PT) Paediatric Physiotherapy Occupational Therapy (OT) Speech and language therapy, OT/PT outpatients Electrotherapy rooms, Large gymnasium with therapeutic equipment, Paediatric therapy suite for disabled children, Hydrotherapy area with pool and an underwater treadmill (Aquaciser).
