The curriculum lays the foundation for students to pursue university levels of education or professional career paths suited to their abilities, talents and interests. It is based on a structured and broad framework that outlines expected levels of achievement through all stages of a student's school life. The IGCSE curriculum is an internationally recognized curriculum used in over 150 countries across the world. It sets widely recognized education standards, supports modern curriculum development and promotes international understanding. In addition to development of specific skills and competencies, the curriculum emphasizes thinking skills, enquiry, creativity, planning and other skills needed to meet the challenges of the future. Through innovative styles of teaching, workshops, projects and experiments students are given the opportunity to explore aspects of the curriculum and develop a variety of practical skills. Under the guidance of their teachers, students learn aspects of management, instruction and leadership, enhancing their knowledge, confidence and skills, so that they can make more defined career choices.
The Westminster School provides students with an educational programme in English, comparable to that which they would receive in quality programmers in the United Kingdom. English is the medium of instruction and the mandatory first language for all Year Groups from Kindergarten to Year 13. A high level of oral and written English usage is expected of our students. Arabic is the required second language from KG 2 to Year 9. It is offered in two levels, a special higher level, as per the Ministry of Education requirement for Arab nationals and a regular level for non-native speakers. From Year 3 to Year 8, the third language option includes French, Hindi or Urdu. From Year 9 the language option is extended to include Arabic as the first language and Arabic, French or Urdu as a second language.
