An education which guides students through the theoretical and practical aspects of their chosen disciplines and provides them with sufficient breadth to understand and successfully meet the challenges of a rapidly changing society while preserving a focus on the major which will prepare them for the workforce or post graduate study. Students will benefit from a curriculum which fully accommodates professional work experience and is designed to produce graduates who are critical thinkers, ethical professionals, and life long learners with a commitment to the local community as well as a global society. The College of Science is committed to both basic and applied research with a special emphasis in areas of strategic importance to the UAE.
It is expected that much of the work produced within the College should have international impact. The College also regards research activity by both staff and students as being an integral part of the educational process and aims to provide an environment which maximizes this activity by optimizing use of available resources. In this regard, faculty encourage student participation in research even at the undergraduate level. The establishing and maintaining relationships of support and involvement with public and private sectors represent the foundation of our efforts to link the College with external constituencies. The College also plays a role in promoting general public awareness and understanding of the basic sciences.
Facilities
UAE University, in its pursuit to provide the staff with health care services of highest quality, has decided to operate a Group Medical Insurance Scheme (GMIS) in conjunction with Abu Dhabi National Insurance Co. (ADNIC) starting Jan 2002. The purpose of this guide is to brief the staff on the medical benefits, general conditions of GMIS, list of Exclusions, and the list of authorized clinics and pharmacies. Student Life and Student Activities at the College of Science, UAEU are perfect for any student with a creative spirit. We have the opportunity to bring any activities to life where students have an interest.We have been working closely to make things happen here in the most positive way . It is known that all students study and succeed best when they are comfortable, secure, and healthy. As students identify and move toward their educational, personal, and career goals, we offer them the resources they need to turn their quests into achievements. There are a variety of organizations for students to participate in, including National Organizations, Campus Specific Clubs and Programs as well as Campus wide events. With the majestic Al Ain City, our students develop life skills on a campus that has been home to students for many years - yet they learn and study facilities that are unrivaled in the United Arab Emirates. The faculty of science pays a great attention to scientific research. A number of research projects are carried out at individual and interdisciplinary levels.
The results of these research activities are usually published in first-class international journals. The faculty also sponsors the highly regarded journal of faculty of sciences, which has an international editorial board. Our faculties’ research activities are also published annually in the form of Research and Seminar abstract booklets. Recent addition to the faculty publication is highly popular and interesting to read “Science Focus” which is intended to inform students and staff of academic activities in the college. Since the college recognizes that the teaching and research are mutually supportive, it also encourages the faculty to carry on research that involves participation of students.
