College of Law - (State)

The College of Law is one of the UAEU colleges founded upon the ministerial decree no. 39 on 15.10.1978. The College of Law has distinguished study plan that responds to the needs of UAE community and aims at developing its human resources. The College has two departments; the Department of Private Law and the Department of Public Law. Previously; the College of Law had the name of the College of Sharia & Law where it used to offer Islamic Sciences bedsides the Law study. Starting from the academic year 2003/2004 the Islamic Studies Department was transferred from the Faculty of Humanities & Social Sciences to the College of Sharia & Law upon the Chancellor's decree no. 186/2002.

On 11.06.2006 the Chancellor's decree no. 63/2006 modifying the name of the college to the College of Law and establishing the College of Sharia & Islamic Studies to be dedicated for the Islamic sciences' teaching. The College of Law gives the degree of Bachelor of Law whereas the student has to successfully achieve (132) credit hours. The College of Law is seeking to see itself as endeavors to have a position among leading international law colleges, maintains the genuine identity of the UAE society and utilizing all means of progress. A highly student demanded college adopting the latest learning technologies.

College of Law of the United Arab Emirates University aims at achieving the targets as provide graduates of distinguished levels willing and capable to practice the legal profession skillfully. Prepare students according to the latest educational and technical methods in order to competently and distinctively take over the various jobs in legal and jurisprudential fields. Provide students with continued self learning abilities, criticizing mind, creativeness, and use of modern technologies, ensuring their keen abiding by noble legal and jurisprudential work ethics.

Participate in bearing the message of thought and Islamic studies that clarifies the reality of Islam and emphasizes the power of its genuine principles to achieve the individual's humanness and develop contemporary life. Make genuine and innovative researches of scientific and practical value in the areas of jurisprudence, law and those in between. Provide scientific, research and training services to United Arab Emirates society including all its public and private institutions, and look forward to extend those services to the Arabian Gulf and Arab societies in general. Exchange scientific, practical, and educational experiences with the various colleges, research, and services centers within and outside the University.
