Paris-Sorbonne University Abu Dhabi - (Private)

On February 19, 2006, “La Sorbonne” and the United Arab Emirates established this renowned university in its dynamic capital city, Abu Dhabi. This will be the only extension of the Sorbonne in the Middle East. Paris-Sorbonne University—Abu Dhabi creates a French-speaking higher education institution that will attract not only the best students from the United Arab Emirates, but also the best students from all over the Middle East and the world.

The first classes will begin in October 2006 in a temporary building, but the ground breaking for the new campus—in April 2006—will truly begin another era for the Sorbonne. The new campus is designed to capture the “dome” from the Paris Chapel in a very modern 21st century style, and will be opening during the 2007-2008 academic year—750 years after the establishment of the original “La Sorbonne”.

His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Chairman of the Abu Dhabi Education Council, expressed the importance of the Sorbonne's new campus best: "This confirms the advance in relations between the Emirates and France to the cultural dimension."

Just as in Paris, the identical prestigious programs will be taught in French by only Professors from the Sorbonne. These Professors are dedicated to give their students the knowledge to help them enhance their critical thinking, communication skills, and international perspective . . . to meet their future career goals. Along with the humanities programs, a one year intensive French preparatory course will be offered for non-fluent students. Scholarships will be available to those that meet the qualifications.
A “Paris-Sorbonne” degree is recognized around the world as a guarantee of excellence in the field of Human Sciences.
