As the School was still attempting to find an appropriate place within a very short time limit, before the academic year: 1994 / 1995 began in September, 1994, the School had to start functioning from a very small building outside the city just to lay its cornerstone, and thus enrolment of the School stood at 40 students.
By the beginning of the second academic year: 1995 / 1996, the School moved towards the city and started functioning on 23rd August, 1995 from a considerably reasonable building; by the end of the year enrolment stood at 260 students. Due to the limited space available at the old building of the School, enrolment remained ranging between 250-270 students during the following four academic years.
By the beginning of the academic year: 1996 / 1997, the AGS introduced the program of Grade: 12, whereby students who accumulate successfully a minimum of 18 Credits starting from Grade: 10 (with not More than 7 Credits at Grade: 10 level) up to Grade: 12 (with not Less than 5 Credits at Grade: 12 level) are awarded the High School Graduation Diploma of Nova Scotia. H.E Minister of Education in the United Arab Emirates issued on 10th June, 1998 the confirming that this Diploma is equivalent to the Official General Secondary Certificate of the U.A.E.
By the beginning of 1999 / 2000 academic year and due to the increasing number of Applications for Admission, we had no chance but to limit our enrolment at 325 students, but as the third millennium approached and despite the fact that the Second Term had started, the number of enrolment stood at 360 students, and consequently the school had to move to a more spacious campus (where it is now) much earlier than the scheduled date to meet this increasing demand.
The enrolment stood by the end of 2005 / 2006 at 523 students, while by the end of the first semester of 2006 / 2007, enrolment stood at 593 students of almost 40 different nationalities .
This continued increasing demand of the Canadian Education has now encouraged us to search for a much more spacious campus inside the town of Abu Dhabi.
The AGS offers an enriched and challenging integrated program for students in Pre-School to Grade: 12. At the Senior High School Level (Grades: 10, 11 and 12),we, at the AGS do not spare any effort to study and explore areas where we can develop and design new schedules that would meet the students’ needs, interests and abilities and allow them to complete: 20, 21, or even more than 22 credits. Generally, the AGS functions to help children become literate, well-rounded citizens capable of using all their talents.
Just before the AGS has completed its third year, 9 of its students graduated in 1997 with the High School Graduation Diploma of Nova Scotia. By end of the academic year 2005 / 2006, the total number of students who graduated with this diploma stood at 189 students. There are now 37 more students standing on the graduation line next June, 2007. This will bring the total number of students who have already graduated with the High School Graduation Diploma to 226 students.
