Al Shohub School - (Private)

Since its opening in 1999 as a small girls' secondary school, Al Shohub has gone from strength to strength. The original vision of establishing a school which offered a high-quality British curriculum education within a multi-cultural environment is now very much a reality. The thriving KG and Primary department welcomes girls aged 3-11 and boys up to Grade 4, who follow the National Curriculum up to Key Stage 2. The girls in their Secondary section work towards GCSE and Advanced level examinations, in preparation for university entrance both in the United Arab Emirates and abroad.

In addition to academic studies, students are encouraged to participate in a range of extra-curricular activities and regular visits are organized to enhance their school experience. Education is for life and they aim to equip all pupils with the skills they will need to succeed in the world beyond the classroom. A strong pastoral system underpins all aspects of school life, nurturing confident, responsible young people who have a sound moral foundation upon which to build academic success. There are many exciting plans for the future, as the school expands year by year.

However, they will retain a strong "Al Shohub" ethos, based on Endeavour, respect and commitment. They believe wholeheartedly that every child matters and are focused on enabling all their students to fulfill their potential within a secure and caring environment. Al Shohub School aims to deliver a well-balanced curriculum, which reflects the best of UK practice and follows the National Curriculum for England & Wales, whilst adhering to the requirements of the Ministry of Education of the UAE. Establish a strong foundation for learning in the Primary section, based on sound numeracy, literacy, and broader curricular skills.

Prepare Secondary students for higher educational establishments within the UAE and overseas and motivate them to become independent, life-long learners. Maintain high standards of performance and behavior at all times. Provide a productive, stimulating learning experience, offering all students the opportunity to develop their skills, knowledge, and understanding, within a well-defined learning structure.

Demonstrate and promote positive attitudes towards learning and inspire students to fulfill their potential in all aspects of school life. Promote responsible citizenship which will enable students to make a positive contribution to society. Enable students to build good relationships, based on understanding and tolerance of other cultures and mutual respect. Offer strong pastoral support, which recognizes and nurtures the individual. Work closely with parents in the process of educating their children.
Facilities
Children thrive if they are busy and enjoying themselves, so at Al Shohub staff are pleased to share their expertise beyond the classroom. An extra-curricular programme is offered, during lunch break for Primary pupils and after school for girls in the Secondary Department. Everyone is encouraged to pursue their interests and discover new ones, and we run regular sport, music, drama, handicrafts and art clubs, not to mention fun subject-based activities.
Curriculum / Programs
Education at Al Shohub School is firmly based on the National Curriculum for England and Wales. The National Curriculum is divided into Key Stages, as illustrated in the grid and teachers work with reference to designated performance levels and targets to ensure continuity and progression. At various stages of their school career, pupils will sit external examinations set by the relevant British Curriculum examining body. Additionally, Arabic, Islamic Studies, and Arabic Social Studies are taught according to Ministry of Education guidelines for schools in the United Arab Emirates.

Our goal at Al Shohub School is to deliver a balanced education which combines the best of traditional teaching and learning systems with new technologies and curricular innovation. Pupils acquire skills and knowledge that encourage self-motivation, independent thinking, and initiative. Each student is valued and encouraged to excel, cared for by highly qualified and dedicated teaching staff and, in the Primary department, an additional team of support assistants. At all levels, in order to maximize the learning process, we ask parents to support the work carried out at school by ensuring that all homework tasks are completed.

We aim to educate the whole child and place great importance on personal, social, and emotional development. There is a structured PSE program, which is appropriate to age-range and cultural norms/sensitivities. Students are taught social and personal awareness, citizenship, and healthy lifestyle options which enable them to take responsibility and to develop confidence and positive attitudes in all aspects of their lives.

Al Shohub is a friendly and happy school and we believe that the well-being of each individual in the school community is of great importance. Form Tutors are central to our pastoral system and are always available to help and support the students in their year group. They are fully supported by the senior management and administration team in order to ensure a positive learning environment for the children in our care.
