Curriculum / Programs
The British ProgramAl Nahda National Schools are affiliated with both London University Examinations and Assessment Council and The University of Cambridge Local Examinations Syndicated as an examination center for GCE 'A' Levels, AS Level and IGCSE respectively.
English is the medium of instruction for all subjects, except for those who are interested in studying Islamic Studies in Arabic. Arabic Language Programs are offered - i.e. one for native speakers and another for foreigners to whom Arabic is a second Language.
From Grade 4, students can take French or Urdu as a third language. At the end of Grade 12, students sit for the Advanced Level Exams in a maximum of 3 subjects. The selection of 'A' Level subjects is made on the basis of a student's performance at IGCSE/GCE 'o' Level and individual aptitude as well as plans for higher education. The subjects available for 'A'/ 'AS' Level are; Math, Physics, Chemistry, Biology, Economics, Business studies and Accounting. On the other hand subjects available for IGCSE, are Math, Physics, Biology, Chemistry, Computer Studies, Economics, English, French, Accounting, Urdu, English Literature, Arabic and Business Studies.
The American High School Program
In this program Arabic, Islamic Studies & Social Studies are taught according to the curricula of the Ministry of Education. All other subjects are taught in English right to the end of Grade 12.
Our High School Students graduate after satisfactory completion of the course of study prescribed by Al Nahda National Schools. In addition, a student is required to pass TOEFL with a minimum score of 500 and SAT I (Math) with a minimum score of 400. Our High School Diploma is equivalent to the UAE Certificate of Secondary Education according to rule 362/92.
The Arabic Program
In this program, Arabic, Islamic Studies and Social Studies are taught according to the Ministry of Education requirements. All other subjects are taught in English. In grades 11 and 12 all subjects are taught in Arabic in order to prepare the students for the National Secondary School Examinations. The program is approved by the Ministry of Education.
