Abu Dhabi Gas Development Corporation has signed Shah sour gas field development project with Saipem and Samsung Engineering on $12 billion. Shah sour gas development project is considered to be the largest of its kind in the Middle East as it will supply 540 million cubic feet a day of processed gas to domestic as well as to industrial consumption.
What you all think, will this project enhance Abu Dhabi's economy and will investors give more significance in investing in Abu Dhabi rather than in Dubai as we know recently 'housing fee' has been announced in Dubai for tenants to pay.
This project will definitely bring some positive changes in the economy of Abu Dhabi. It will create more job opportunities and bring in more economic stability for Abu Dhabi.
Answering your question about the investors giving more importance to Abu Dhabi than Dubai I would say that this project is likely to increase the demand in the property market of Abu Dhabi and we all know that high demand is of great attraction for the investors.
So, I think Shah Sour Gas Field Development Project could give a competitive edge to Abu Dhabi over Dubai and can divert the attention of the investors from Dubai to Abu Dhabi.
Souring oil price has surged the inflation and increased the cost of doing business for all businesses. A cheaper fuel alternative can go a long way in impacting the demand for real estate in Abu Dhabi and UAE in general. Manufacturers are always looking for alternatives to lower the rising cost of fuel by outsourcing or erecting newer plants at newer locations. With the tax free status, Abu Dhabi can become the next big destination for manufacturers all over the world which can in result create a lot of jobs.

Abu Dhabi has commended this project to meet the growing domestic gas needs and considered all the aspects of project like health & environment in advance. This project is a blessing in disguise for the experts to learn new techniques and apply this tech knowledge in further projects. Thus the project will accelerate the development in the area and will have direct impacts on economy.
This project is worth USD 10 Billion Estimated and hopefully it will overcome the domestic needs.
It has been divided into two portions as due to mixed reactions of contractors. This project was basically for the development of Shah and the Bad fields.
What is its current status? Is it still running or project has been delayed?
The current status of the project is that it is delayed once again for further three to six months, according to the spokesman of Abu Dhabi Gas Development Company. There is a delay in completion date of project from early to mid 2014 which is already late from the previous completion time of 2013.
ConocoPhillips quited the Shah project on April 28 and now Abu Dhabi may select new international partners for Shah Gas Project but it will take time.
These things are delaying this project so lets see what Emirate is going to unveil ahead.
