Today I read about the World's Biggest Greenfield Airport Project planned in Dubai at the gulf news.
Construction of this airport is huge and much more facilitated. Five parallel runways, six concourses, two terminals, all interconnected through tunnels and automated people movers are one big construction project.
U.A.E. on the whole is actively participating in the development of infrastructure of almost every kind but it is considered leader in the development of aviation infrastructure across the Middle East, Africa and South Asia. Sheikh Mohammad toured Dubai World Central-Al Maktoum International Airport recently. Formal opening of this Airport will mark the beginning of new legendary start of aviation history of the Middle East region.
As Arabic world is fond of making records so this Airport at Jabel Ali is stated as the world's biggest Greenfield airport development, once again leading in the whole list of projects. The first of the six runways at this Airport has been already completed. It will mainly cater the growing logistics market needs, charter functions as well as the business aviation sectors.
Once it is fully completed, it will have the highest passenger handling capacity, which will obviously make it the biggest in the world.
Indeed it's a huge revolutionary step for Dubai. The first runway had been built around the Dubai Logistics City which is being viewed as an entire airport city.
Now on 1st July, it has started its operations. Have all the operations been started or are there still some pending processes?
Well Avelina, As per my information, the Airport is undergoing the final phases of development with a fourth terminal and concourse under construction yet.
Passenger flights are expected to begin next March when the terminal will be ready, according to Airport officials. While the airport was already receiving five to seven cargo flights a day.
Well most of the things have already been discussed here about this project. I would just like to add that this project has been brought in action to cater the future needs of Dubai with great ease.
This clearly shows the confidence of Dubai in it self even after facing such a severe credit crunch.
