Explore a place where high-rises touch the sky and entertainment never stops.
One of Dubai’s most stylish areas, Business Bay is definitely not just about business. Home to some of the most striking architecture in the city, as well as world-class hotels, rooftop restaurants and lounges with incredible views, and the winding Dubai Water Canal, Business Bay is a neighbourhood where people go to see and be seen.
Located on the landward side of Sheikh Zayed Road, close to Downtown Dubai, Business Bay is mainly made up of high-rise towers, including some of the most distinctive you’ll ever see. One of Dubai’s newest neighbourhoods, Business Bay is still growing fast, with new attractions, hotels and restaurants arriving all the time.
Thanks to its location and great transport links, Business Bay is a popular neighbourhood for tourists and businesses alike – and an ideal location to discover the dramatic splendour of new Dubai.
Things to do in Business BayWatch Dubai’s number one show, explore Al Habtoor City and see stunning architecture
The single most famous Business Bay attraction is La Perle, Dubai’s popular permanent show. Created by the late Franco Dragone, the legendary theatre director who worked with Cirque du Soleil, La Perle occupies a custom-built 10-storey theatre at V Hotel within Al Habtoor City.
Set amid waterfalls and torrents of rain – which completely flood the stage – the show is inspired by Dubai’s pearl-diving heritage and features breathtaking stunts, acrobatics and choreography from the supremely talented cast of 65 performers. With two shows a day every day except Sundays and Mondays, La Perle is not to be missed.
A visit to the show is also a great reason to explore the rest of Al Habtoor City, a mixed-use development on the banks of Dubai Water Canal. Along with some of the city’s best dining options – see below – the complex also features facilities such as Al Habtoor Tennis Academy, and the seasonal Winter Garden at Habtoor Palace, which in the colder months transforms into a winter wonderland.
One of the most notable features of Business Bay is the neighbourhood’s architecture: just looking around, you’ll see some of the most innovative buildings not just in Dubai, but the world. A highlight is the award-winning O-14 Base, nicknamed ‘The Swiss Cheese’, thanks to its distinctive outer covering filled with holes.
Also within the area is The Opus by Zaha Hadid, designed by the late, legendary architect for Omniyat, and home to the ME by Melia Hotel. The Opus appears to be a cube from which a curved section has been removed, and this theme of fluidity and the unexpected is continued throughout the whole building, to stunning effect.
And as Business Bay is next door to Downtown Dubai, you can make the most of this, to visit the home of Burj Khalifa, Dubai Mall and dozens of other fantastic attractions.
