Sorouh Real Estate has completed the construction of Abu Dhabi’s Sun and Sky Towers on Reem Island, 100 days ahead of schedule. The 74-storey Sky Tower and 65-Storey Sun Tower are the two tallest buildings in the Gate District, a cluster of eight towers located in SHAMS Abu Dhabi on Reem Island. The Sky Tower is designed in a striking elliptical formation which combines residential and commercial spaces assembled vertically around a central core, including 474 residential units and 800,000 square feet of commercial office space. The Sun Tower will accommodate 673 one, two, three and four bedroom luxury suites and penthouses with spectacular views across the Gulf and Abu Dhabi skyline. The towers will be joined by a common podium housing a shopping mall, fitness and leisure centre and a range of cafes and restaurants.

Currently, the Ground floor slab, Mezzanine, and levels 1 – 4 of the podium have been finished whilst the exterior walls are 61 per cent complete on the Sky Tower and 70 per cent complete on the Sun Tower. Sorouh has also concluded the majority of work on the Sky Pods of both buildings. The entire project is 67 per cent accomplished and scheduled to meet the completion deadline in 2010. Sorouh Real Estate will be among the first residents of the Sun and Sky as they will be relocating their headquarters to the Sky Tower in 2010. “The topping out of the Sun and Sky Towers is a tangible example of Sorouh’s commitment to meeting our project completion deadlines. These buildings are currently the highest structures in Abu Dhabi and act as a visual indication of SHAMS Abu Dhabi for miles around the city.” commented Mounir D. Haidar, Chief Executive Officer of Sorouh Real Estate. The developer has more than Dh70 billion worth of projects under development in the UAE and internationally.
